Most commercial and residential buildings run on temperature controls from the 60's. Herbst partnered with Runwise to design a suite of sensors and control modules to bring buildings into the modern age. The smart platform optimizes an apartment's heating and cooling systems to be the most comfortable and energy efficient. Managing both air and water, the modular system can also detect leaks and hazards to improve tenant safety. Runwise has saved building owners over $75 million in energy costs (and an additional $87 million in fines!) while reducing over 253,000 tons of CO2 gas emissions. Herbst designed each of the modules to share a consistent design language, whether they live in the sub-basement or the living room, while considering the needs of the installation engineer, the building manager, and the tenant.
